Metal Element Crystals

Metal is the phase of clarity and boundaries: refinement, discernment, and letting go of what is not needed. Its season is autumn, when a tree takes back what it invested and releases the rest, and its colour is white and clear. Too little Metal looks like unclear priorities, poor boundaries and a shelf of half finished things. Too much looks like coldness and over criticism.

When you might need it

  • You have forty tabs open, in the browser and in the rest of it.
  • Every request reaches you directly, because nobody knows where your line is.
  • You have begun six things this year and finished one.
  • Your desk, your inbox or your calendar has stopped being a tool.

The stones in this phase

Clear quartz is the plainest expression of Metal, the stone the tradition keeps when the need is to see a situation rather than change it.

A Strand of Frozen Moonlight is our white crystal strand for Metal in white rather than clear, and the exception on sizing: 6 to 22 mm beads, sized to a wrist of 14 to 21 cm.

Rutilated quartz threads golden needles through clear quartz and carries Metal at its most visible, which is why the tradition gives it both clarity and force. The seven chakra bracelet completes the shelf.

How to choose

Metal is the easiest phase to choose by looking: clear and white, nothing pooled or vivid. Hold a bead up, see into it, and check the colour and inclusions are part of the stone. Most of this shelf comes in 8, 10 or 12 mm, and fit is decided by length rather than diameter, so start with our size guide; Frozen Moonlight is the one strand where you choose stone size and length separately.

Metal is a season, not a personality. The full sequence is on our Five Elements guide, and there is a longer treatment of telling a real clear stone from a fake if clarity is what you are paying for.

One honest note: no stone here diagnoses, treats or cures anything, and none of this is medical advice.
